Tests
So I was taking my daughter to school this morning and she was complaining about having to take another test. I didn’t like tests either when I was her age. But now, in retrospect, I can appreciate the value of the tests. Tests motivated me to make sure I knew the information covered in class. Tests showed both my teacher and myself how much I really knew. Tests made me learn, by giving me a practical way to apply my knowledge.
This made me think about my relationship with God. The Bible says in James 1:12-13 that God allows us to be tested in life. I imagine God’s reasons for allowing life tests are very similar to that of teachers. God probably wants to motivate us to learn, knowing that until we have an opportunity to apply the information we have been exposed to, we won’t really “know” it. And think about it, how do you really know the strength of your faith until it is tested?
We may not like “life” tests but they are probably good for us.
